Prints In China: Laura Smith
When we were in China we took a Polaroid camera so we could take pictures of the babies with their nannies and leave them with them. They loved this gift. We then visited a rural farming village with about five homes. We used the rest of our Polaroid film taking pictures of the local people for them to keep. The excitement when we offered to take pictures was amazing and continued throughout as they formed different groups to get their picture taken. Quite a few wanted an American in the picture too. Our guide told us that photos are rare for these people – if they are lucky they may have one taken in their life. The people we so happy and thankful – it’s one of my best memories of the trip.
